57 S40 DPF removal & remap - DSTC limp mode!!

Post by simpsonite »

Hi all,
My 57 plate Volvo s40 1.6 diesel recently developed a DPF fault.
I took the car to a specialist who confirmed that the DPF fliter was indeed blocked and beyond repair.
The garage recommended removal of said filter & re map of the engine management system as opposed to a hefty bill with Volvo who would have simply replaced the filter. As i understand it, the part alone is over £700!

So, they went ahead and did the work but on driving the car home the anti skid service light came (DSTC spin control off) on & the car went into limp mode!!
I have taken the car back to them numerous times , but their diagnostics was showing no fault.
So basically they had no clue!!
They gave me a refund but got me to sign a disclaimer that this error was not necessarily as a result of the re map work etc!

Last week i took the car to another re map specialist centre who were confident they could fix the problem.
The same error has returned this morning on my way to work with the anti skid lights & car going into limp mode!!

I would be grateful if anyone has any practical knowledge of this problem.
I have lost confidence in the so called specialists, but taking the car back to Volvo main dealer is a last resort now due to what is certainly going to be a big bill!!

Is it possible that a wheel sensor has been knocked during the initial work & the re map is not the problem here?

Advice much appreciated,

Simpsonite
