I have a anti-skid service required message in the car. I was told steering angle sensor.
I know that steering angle sensors have been covered here, but I am perplexed by something the dealer told me.
My service guy (who pulled the codes for free), told me that his parts guy said that the part that needs replacing is not behind the steering wheel, but by the BCM, or perhaps he said ECM.
I will be doing the work myself. According to the service guy, I will need to have the dealer download software after the parts are installed.
Can anyone tell me what part he may be referring to, if not the clockspring?

On that year model the SAS is a unit integral with the airbag contact reel on top of steering column where wiper and turn signal switches are located. The SAS signals go to a module that is clipped to the side of the CEM under left dash. That is the SAS control module.
Those codes don't scream automatic replacement of SAS control module. WIth the intermittent status I'd inspect SAS CM connections and the connectors on steering column for the SAS piece itself. Unplug, look for obvious corrosion and if none found then some dielectric grease on terminals and plug together and re-assemble and see if the issues comes up again.
The AYC (it is actually used by the DSTC and RSC functions the BCM does) not being calibrated is an issue that needs attention. The car needs to be calibrated using VIDA. After the SAS is checked and if your alignment is good with centered steering wheel then VIDA can be used to calibrate the AYC sensor
