There is no A-6 for the Motronic system, it only applies to the Jetronic LH 3.2 system. The LH 3.2 used two ECUs, one for the ignition and one for the fuel. The Motronic system combined both systems on one ECU which is read form port A-2.

Be careful with OBD-I codes to make sure you are using the appropriate "decoder ring". The port A-2 codes for the LH 3.2 are different than the Motronic codes from the same port.

The "decoder ring" isn't a literal device, it was more of a literary device. It was just a way of saying to make sure that you are looking up the correct codes for your ECU. Most of the pre '96 cars had a LH 3.2 for the NA versions and the Motronic for the turbos. If you are using the factory manual that we host here then you would want to use the "tests with codes - turbo" file to get the correct code definitions from port A-2. The same thing applies to the Haynes manual.
