2007 s40. Front strut removal

2007 s40. Front strut removal

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the front struts on this year and model I can't find info anywhere on this style of strut all the other struts seem to be held in place by two bolts but not the s40 help please

I just did the front struts in my S40, albeit mine is a 2000 model so not sure if there is a difference or not. If you look under the hood on either side there should be a flat spot with three bolts protruding through it directly above the wheel well; that is where your strut mount is bolted into the car. I'm not sure what the wheel mount area looks like on an '07, but on the '00 there are two bolts holding the wheel onto the strut and a third smaller nut holding the tie rod onto the strut. Make sure when you are changing struts you use the appropriate tool to compress the coil spring, do NOT try to take the strut apart without doing this as the coil spring is under a lot of tension and the strut mount, top, etc will fly off and probably cause severe bodily harm.
