About 3 weeks ago my wife's battery died. It was 5 years old to the month. So, I just replaced it without question.
Shortly after that, the trunk started unlocking itself at random times. Also, pressing the micro switch in the trunk lid would only unlatch the trunk about a third of the time. Unlocking the trunk with the remote works all the time. A buddy of mine did remove the micro switch and tested it. It is in perfect working order. So I simply unplugged the electronic latch assembly so you can only unlock the trunk with a key to temporarily fix the problem until I had time to sort through the issue.
That has worked ok until a few days ago. The car's battery was dead. I jumped it, drove it and it held a charge for a few days. This morning the battery was dead. I jumped it so my wife could go to work. It was dead this evening when she got off. I jumped it again so she could drive home.
I have a meter on the battery and its holding at 12 volts, 4 hours now.
I plugged connector back into the electronic locking mechanism. I've been jiggling the wires running from the trunk lid to see if it would unlock, maybe finding a bad wire. No luck. It hasn't unlocked itself.
However, on two occasions the hazzard lights came on. They probably have come on the past couple of days draining the battery.
Anyone have a clue where I should look to see whats draining my battery?
Thank you for any input.
Battery draining, need help.

Is the alarm (siren) working OK? Sometimes the siren module battery leaks causing some issues, which might explain if the hazard lights came on perhaps? As in the alarm was going off but the siren wasn't working...
I tripped the alarm on purpose and the hazard lights flashed and the horn honked. Does this car have an actual siren as well. I did take the siren fuse out after that and the battery held a charge last night.
This morning I found two wires that actually broke in my hands in the wiring bundle going to the trunk lid. I fixed those.
With those fixed and the siren fuse unplugged, I'm letting my wife take it today.
The frayed wires might have been the problem. I'll put the siren fuse back in this weekend and see if the battery holds a charge.
