2002 s40 upper strut mount replacement question
i have replaced my front upper mounts twice now since putting koni yellows and bg lowering springs on the car. the first time was 2years ago and found that i needed to line up a hole in the bottom spring seat that is part of the strut and the upper spring seat or upper mount. i can not for the life of me find an accurate diagram showing this and the mounts are about to blow again.. any tips or illustrations?

The end of the coil spring determines the location on bottom at strut spring rest and that determines upper position as the upper end of coil goes into pocket on spring seat. There isn't a locked position for the spring seat. The coil spring maker is supposed to follow the OEM coil end orientation so the spring goes where it belongs.
Even though we call them spring seats the failure is at the shock mount sleeve. Stiff dampers rip the sleeve loose even quicker.
