way to read the mileage on an 87 240?

Is there a way to find out the actual miles on a 1987 240? The Odometer on my son's car wasn't working when we bought it a couple years ago. It was dead at 340,000ish miles. I'm just more curious than anything. The car runs like a champ and feels like it will last forever.... with good maintenance of course.

The speedo on that car is cable driven so there is no way to determine the mileage.

The speedo on that model is NOT cable driven. I know that because I have fixed the odo on mine when it stopped at about 380k or so. It's an easy fix too to replace the little almost dime-sized plastic gear. The task took me less than 1/2 hour from removal to reinstall of instrument cluster.

regardless, there is no alternate storage of milage on that car.
