So, after two days spent tracking down a short for fuse 11B/5, I found the PTC resistor connector wires burnt/bare. I replaced the length of compromised wiring, put everything back together and the fuse still blew. Going on the PTC connector lead wires were fried, I disconnected the PTC, popped in a new fuse and everything was good, no fuse blowing.
So I'm just curious, aside from replacing the PTC, which doesn't seem to be available other than used parts, is there an eliminator method for this part?
Seems it's for colder climates and it rarely dips below freezing here, a suggestion on VolvoSpeed is I can just leave it unplugged, but if there is a "fix", I'd rather do it vs just leave an open plug dangling in the engine compartment.
Thanks!

I'm lost at PTC. What and where is this?

After replacing the burnt wire to the PTC you plugged it in and it still blew the fuse so you assumed it was the Male Connector on the PTC itself that has a short. You left it unplugged and now the fuse is OK correct?
Besides assuming the Connector has a short perhaps someone with an understanding of how the PTC functions can let Thorsteenster know if the PTC can also short internally and cause the 11B/5 fuse to blow. He further likes to know if you can leave the Plug off without ramifications and/or is there a better modification so the Plug for PTC does not just sit dangling in the engine compartment all its lonesome.
