Hi everybody,
I bought a second parts car to fix my 00 xc70 with minor front damage, the donor car has no drive fwd or reverse, although the car feels like it wants to move forward (only very slightly) be it in any gear including neutral or reverse, dash display shows correct,
car has 200k kms but I just thought if i could get it moving without spending too much,
very limited imformation for both gears going so I thought I would throw the question out there,
cheers Russ...
02 xc70 no reverse or forward hot or cold

Perhaps too obvious and most likely not fluid related but have you check the level and color?

yeah I should add more detail, Im on night shift so brain function is limited haha, the story goes it was flaring 3/4 and clunking through gears, it went to the dealer ( only one in our state) had a power flush and codes reset, went good for a few months then this happened,
just seems weird to lose al drive, sounds like maybe the line pressure solenoid is stuck open maybe?
oil level is good colour and correct level

anybody? I would just like to get it movable so not a complete fix, I hate having dead cars in the yard
You said that previously the dealer did a "code reset" and you were good for a few months, then what I
would do in your case is to invest in a vida/dice setup from China, about $100 and money well spent.
With this setup you read and erase all DTC's in the ECM, then you would reset the tranny fluid counter and reset the tranny adaptives. This most likely would get the car going again.

well the strangest thing, the new owner contacted me and he said he put a battery in it and fired it up and had all gears.
