1999 S70 T5 Would you buy car online?

I did it last year. Sold my 1998 S70 NA with 170k miles on it and picked up a 1998 S70 T5A for something in the same ballpark you're looking at. Though mine was a one owner, immaculately maintained and only had 52k miles on it. And I was able to check it out in person. Though buying it over the internet wouldn't have held me back, it just happened that the car was within a half hour of me. I've traveled to buy a Volvo before without concern. Find someone reputable to inspect the car and get good pictures of it. Ask all the questions you need to from the seller, get them on the phone if you can.

Back to my jack... I usually change my oil with full synthetic Mobile 1 or Castrol Edge every 5,000. After about 30,000 miles, 6 changes, I sent a black sample to Blackstone Labs. They sent me a report stating that my sample was one of the cleanest they had ever seen of a car with my mileage and said that more than 50% of the additives were still in the oil. Suggest that I push back changes to 8,000. My car is turbo but I tell you, at 1,500 miles you can't see through my oil at all, the stuff is black. The 850 I had prior to that had some gold oil in it before I changed it. I thought it was just changed or full synthetic, but when I switched to Castrol Edge in it, it got dirty pretty fast. Maybe it's just me...

I would never pay that much for the car sight unseen or not. Way overpriced. Come buy one of my T5's. No really. I guess I shouldnt tell you I bought my 99 V70 T5 180K wagon from PO all it needed was dash mounts and brakes and rotors for $1500 and my sons 97 T5 with 170K which just needed dash mounts and front seats (put in S70 seats) at a auto auction for $550.

He's talking about buying a car with less than 90,000 miles on it. At 180+ everything is worn out and things are breaking every other week. I love my Volvo because it breaks all the time and I get to spend personal intimate time with it. Not everyone wants to have a close working relationship with their car. Some people just like sticking the key in it and enjoying the ride. That's enough for them.

Just a note, I sold my '95 850 yellow T-5R for $5,900 2 years ago. It had about 113,000 miles on it and was in good shape. It did NOT have the proper lower lip and the paint was a little thin but the car ran good and the interior was 5 of 5.
