1993. 850. exhaust manifold gaskets

When replacing 850 exhaust manifold gaskets what direction do the metal faced sides go? Against the head or against the manifold? I've had the head off for awhile and forgot which way these go. thanks

Looks to me that they only go on one way.

Ditto. They should only go on one way. Make sure you're using OE Volvo gaskets, or Victor Reinz, who I believe is an OE supplier for these.
