1995Volvo 960 starting problem
Hi guys..i got 95 960..just changed head gasket, timing belt etc..when i started it for first time it went without any problems..i drove it around for 20 minutes and after stopping at the shop to get engine oil and filters it wouldn't start.so,i towed it to home.Next day i took front timing cover off and checked timing, seems fine, lines up..i tryed to start and to my surprise it did start from first time..and today i decided to change engine iol and filters before i give it a good run.i replaced engine oil and filter, started engine twice to check correct level.it was ok.so i cleaned all tools, washed hands etc to get ready to go for drive and it didnt start.i tryed to "jump"start it..it didnt start.no fuel smell .fuses seems like ok..engine winding ok and i dont remember disconnecting anything while i was doing headgasket..any ideas?thanks
Is your no start condition does the engine turn over, just not fire up? Or is it no cranking at all?
If it is cranking over but not firing, check for spark at a spark plug when it is in the situation of no start.
Could be something is working while cool, but not so well when hot. Next time let it run and idle until it stops. Are there any stored DTC codes? Not all codes will light up the check engine light.
There is a ground wire under the intake manifold that supplies the ground to the power stages. It is attached to the driver side engine mounting bracket, it is with a wire bundle that passes over that bracket. There is a small black plastic chase that has a 10mm nut and screw, the nut holds the ground tang. I had a similar experience where everything fired right up go hot, shut it down to clean up and came out and spent the next couple of hours trouble shooting,
Do you hear the fuel pump start up for a second when the key is first turned on?
