I took my car to the Volvo dealership to have them check out the message and was told it would cost around $600. to replace the module. I asked what would happen if I didn't and was told I might have problems with the sunroof and automatic locks. So I chose to just leave the message on but now I'm having trouble with the car shifting from one gear to the next, it's taking too long and I'm afraid it's the transmission. Do you think this has something to do with the module? My husband drove me around to several car dealerships today and the road noise was loud in every car I drove, never a problem in my Volvo. So I'm hoping there is a simple solution to this shifting problem. If it matters I have 107,000. miles on the car. At this point I'd be happy to replace the module if that's the problem.

did you try disconnecting the battery ( negative ) for sometime and then reconnect it back on to see if anything changes

I just replied on a similar post. Most probably the small battery inside the alarm module is shot.

On my car (2003 S60), I disconnected the module and everything works, except there is no alarm siren. The message will always be there. You might simply ask them to disconnect the module, it should be less than 100$ job. Or leave it like that, you should be good for another few years without other issues.

The transmission issue is not related with the alarm module. Have the transmission checked at the dealer, including fluid level, and software update. It might be an easy fix.

Bumping line pressure will only help so much. Once it's worn, that's it. It's worn and needs new clutches.

A shift kit/higher line pressure when the transmission is young will help, but having it built to better than OE specs is the only real solution.
