electric overdrive system.

Post by Mario »

Hallo Mario here,
The last weeks I'm looking for my next Volvo (sorry addicted; recue impossible). I've seen a 940 2.4 diesel GLE turbo intercooler. Not really a punishment to drive one. My question is the next: the car is equipped with a four gear box with as a fifth gear an electric overdrive system. This is switched on by a pushbutton on top of the gearhanddle. What is the reliability of this system. Has anyone experienced that? Mostly thankfull for any replies.

Volvo has used the electric overdrive in both their auto and manual transmissions for over 25 years, they are incredably reliable. The only problems I have seem with the newer units are the wires running from the shift lever breaking from constnt flexing. This is uncommon and very easy to fix.

Oh, by the way welcome to Volvo adicts club
