S70 trans swap

Ok,
My daughters 98 S70 Trans went out, I found a good price on a 00 S70 AW50-42 with 87,000 miles on it. I swapped them out, and the new one is a 5 speed (I thought all AW50-4s's were 4 sppeds?) and will not shift out of first. I assumed this was because the TCU did not match (4 speed) and got the TCU from the doner car. It does not match the connector or style of the original. Does anyone have any info on 5 speed AW50-42's?
Can I change the harness to the TCU to correct this? or did I get the wrong TCU?

I don't know the answer...and you might be SOL as after '99 the auto trans went to a 5 speed....you have to use Mobil-3309 in it too and not Dextron III (or get ready to change this new tranny out as well). My suggestion is for you to go over to www.volvospeed.com and click into the message board section, register as a new member and post your question over there in the Mods section. Others there are constantly upgrading turbo's, transmissions and the like and they will be able to offer you suggestions to your issue. Especially pay attention to Johan if he posts in your thread...he's the expert in the area of rebuild/swaps/upgrades.

I think they are throughly incompatible.
How did you manage to do that anyway?
The computer and engine managements are so different I'm almost positive they can't work with each other.
A 98 has much fewer computer controls compared to a 99 or a 2000
