1998 S70 Primacy MXV4 ?

Post by mar601 »

1998 S70 T5 -- need new tires as my current Michelin Primacy MXV4 have had it. Like these so no problem getting again but that was a few years back -- anything else to look at? Prefer a smoother ride, not so much the performance approach. Becoming an old fart.

Go on www.tirerack.com and follow the tire tab. They have reviews on the most popular tires for your style of ride and age car.

Those were my favorite on my 960. How many miles did you get out of them?

go to local goodyear and apply for credit card. then when you use it, you can get $60-80 off and 6 mos same as cash, and double rebate during tire sales. the tripletread is a good tire now.

205/55/16?
Conti DWS
The ride will be even nicer and the handling will be 100% better

Kumho Ecsta 4x

I simply love these tires. I bought them because they were inexpensive but they have turned out to be the best tires I have ever owned - by far. They transform the Volvo even in everyday driving. Although they are ultra high-performance all season tires the ride is great (people comment on it), they're quiet, and the handling, tracking and braking are superb. The Kumho's are twice the tire of the MVX4s they replaced at about 60% of the cost.

Right now, with rebate, the Ecsta 4Xs are $70 each at Tirerack!

I had several of those Kumho's. They preformed very well, just could not get any of them to last longer than 10,000 miles. Kept getting bubbles (eggs) on the side walls and such. More flats with Kumho's in 30,000 miles than I have had on all of the other cars that I had combined. If I had to guess, I have likely driven 771,000 miles in my life.

Well I haven't had a single issue with them in the 7,000 miles I've had mine.

Lol, rspi, I've been driving for 45 years and for well over 1.5 million miles. Don't see how that's important though. On my last post here you were telling me I didn't know how to fill up my gas tank as well as you did (that was quite amusing, btw). And now you tell me I'm not an experienced tire buyer, but you are. I just have to shake my head sometimes. :)

Another vote for Continental DWS (now called "Ecoplus" or something like that).
Pricing is good and the quality is top-notch.
All my cars at home run on Conti DWS for the last 3-4 years.
