Replacing the sideview mirror

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Replacing the sideview mirror

Post by skjmank »

Does anyone know how to replace a sideview mirror? Lastnite someone came to close to my car and swiped it off.

Also, I am comparing prices for this part online. Does anyone know of good volvo parts websites?

thanks!!!

As much as I hate to tell you, you're S.O.L. You'll have to replace the whole car...see if you can buy a car this time with a side mirror that can't be destroyed....No, seriously...

Just kidding but it does help if you read this: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/chat/p ... php?t=8862
AND post the information that will help us help you.

Sorry about the lack of info.

S80, 2000, T6
88k miles

I called the dealer to price the glass mirror and the mirror, just the mirror, was listed at $71.18. Unbelievable. So, any thoughts as to where I can get replacement parts would be appreciated.

Anyway, I think all I have to replace is the glass mirror and the connector piece behind it.

Replacing the whole car?...hmmm...not a bad idea though...

Try www.erievovo.com but you need to call them. If you send them email you might hear from them sometime next week. Good luck! Another idea is to find a good junk yard that has your model year S80 with a side mirror still attached, and with the glass. The glass is special because it's got an element in it that heats up as well as hinges that attach to the housing. Don't worry if the housing cover (plastic) isn't the same color...the cover is relatively cheap.
Oh, and you might also try eBay.

Ok, so I will be able to get the part one way or another. However, my main question remains: How do I go about replacing the mirror (with element) into the side mirror housing?

If it is just the mirror glass you are replacing check https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/chat/p ... php?t=9158

This is for the S60 but the procedure is the same.
