The fluid must meet the JWS 3309 spec. I believe the Mobil 3309 does but it is not synthetic.
I believe many have posted here on places to buy the Mobil 3309 cheaply.

Hope that helps,
John

Check REDLINE, but I'd be tempted to stick to 3309 or VOLVO fluid.

Flush takes anywhere from 12 to 15 qts in total.
There are synthetics out there.

Never buy 3309 from a Volvo dealer their prices are ridiculous!
You can buy Toyota Type 1V from any Toyota dealer, it's the EXACT same stuff made by Mobil.
Mobil makes it for Volvo, Toyota, Ford, et al and it's ALL the same.
This is what you should be using

How it can be the exact same stuff?

OEM ATF:

cSt @ 100ºC 7.5
cSt @ 40ºC 40
Density 0.870

Mobil 3309:

cSt @ 100ºC 7.2
cSt @ 40ºC 35
Density 0.8540

Don't know where you got those and if they are correct, but MOBIL 3309 is the fluid that they came with.

Doesnt the 3309 actually refer to a manuf' standard?
Many ATF products that comply will fall within an acceptable range which will narrow down the tolerances required.

See attached link for an ATF called IDEMITSU that was manufactured specifically in Japan for their Toyota transmissions, including Aisin Warner for Volvo vehicles amongst a large range.
http://www.ilacorp.biz/applications/volvo.htm

Their TLS type is their 3309 option and the spec's are also included on their site.

The figures are again very similar to the OEM and Mobil 3309 ones posted above.
The differences when all compared are negligible actually.
