1988 244 DL Engine Swap options ?

I am looking at options for my new to me 240.

The car has 108k original miles. I am interested in engine swap options.

At the yard I found a 5 cylinder and 6 cylinder white block non turbo and a turbo red block?
6 cylinder is from a 960

I was wondering if the 6 cylinder from the 960 would fit and bolt up to the factory manual trans ??

Fuel management isn't a issue with Megasquirt I am looking for the best overall option. obviously the easy engine would be the turbo redblock.

Need more research. 108k is hardly broken in.

We did a car faq on it came up good and low mile. I would be happy to post some more pictures tomorrow.

I think maybe there was some confusion there, I am not worried about the mile just the engine is under powered. An additional 30-50HP would be nice.. I don't think I can get it out of this engine and still like driving it with the family.

I have kicked around the idea if the engine isn't above 9.5:1 just putting in larger injectors / fuel management and turboing the engine with a factory turbo.

The straight six (whiteblock) is a really nice unstressed engine but I don't believe the bellhousing on the earlier (240 or 244) gearbox will mate with it. Same goes for the five cylinder blocks.

Having said that I've seen a 960 running around with a 5 cylinder turbo mill running the manual gearbox that came with the 2.5 litre straight six.

That may be a great combination for your car.
