2001 S80 Crankshaft question

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2001 S80 Crankshaft question

Post by diar89 »

I recently replaced the crankshaft position sensor and cam sensor. However, I'm still having issues in starting. It keeps giving the crankshaft position sensor code. Am I looking at needing a new crankshaft all together?

The crankshaft sensor operates from reading holes on the torque plate just behind the torque converter. There may be some dirt on the plate or it could be bent.

Another possibility is the wiring leading to the sensor may be faulty. Check the plug for corrosion and even if it looks fine spray it with some contact cleaner. The loom leading to it may have chafing or a short.

Broke down and took it to Volvo. The teeth on the torque plate have all but broke. To have it replaced isnt worth it
