Hi. I recently bought a used 2000 v40 with 14k miles on it. Shortly after purchasing it on a highway drive the kick in the car went out. i barely made it to the volvo dealer only being able to go under 50 before losing power the whole way. turns out the turbo hose had come loose. they reattached it but after that the kick doesnt seem as evident when i accellerate and i'm not sure if it's running to full speed now. so a few questions for the v40 owners out there b4 i take it to volvo:
power while driving: when you floor the car how quickly does it accellerate in regular driving mode (not sport mode)? usually mine seems to creep up nicely but there is no real punch particularly when going up slight hills. sport mode does seem to make a difference but not intensely.
alarm: when i push the lock button on the remote all doors lock but nothing tells me if the alarm is activated such as flashing lights as i see on many other cars. i have pushed the panic button and it does work but i'm not sure if the alarm is operating properly. any ideas?
engine noise: does this car standardly have the meaty engine noise at start up and accelleration that mine appears to have? i have heard before that turbos can have more noise but as i bought the car used i want to make sure there are no other problems. when i go to slow down you can clearly hear the engine winding down is this something other v40 owners have experience?
one thing i have noticed and it has happened twice since i have purchased the car: i have gone to start it up and it has turned over a few times before starting up smoothly. this has only happened twice but i have noticed it obviously and dont feel that it should happen at all. anyone else have this problem?
any ideas and thoughts are most appreciated.
other than that i love this car and couldn't be happier!

I also just got a 2000 V40 and am equally excited.
The only thing I could adress for you was the alarm light. There should be a red blinking light above right, front-passenger speaker. If you have the stock radio, there should also be a red blinking light labeled "anti-theft."
I ran into a weird situation when I got my car back from getting serviced at the dealership. The check engine light came AFTER I got it back and was told after-market spark plugs were causing misfires in my engine. After driving over the weekend, I felt weird shivers from the engine when I was stopped at a light and at times when I accelerated on the highway.
As of this morning, the light went away ad I don't get these shivers any more. Im still probably going to take it to get checked.
