The connector is not sold separately.
Most people simply connect the wires together using butt connectors.

Yeah, that's kinda where I feel I am. I might just solder the wires together and call it good. I'm a little hesitant to cut the end off of the ECT that I just dropped $73 on though. :\ I'll probably hit the pull-a-part nearby, looks like they just got a '98 V70 in a week or so ago.

Oh, no, that was just an illustration. It crumbled. The wires pulled out from the back of the harness, etc., so it's totally unusable.

I'm at work and the car is at home. Just imagine the wires coming from the car into the harness connector, sans the connector. So it's essentially just wires. I was having trouble removing the old ECT connector. After everything broke, I noticed some green corrosion in one of the connectors, so I assume the old ECT corroded to the harness and that was the cause of the break.

This corrosion and failure is very common. Junkyard is an easy solution, as you suggested. The same connector is used in other places, I think the foglights are the same?

Found it in the junkyard. I also found a brand-new looking intake manifold on a '98 V70. Thinking about pulling it if anyone wants to buy it.

your idea give me a guide to cheat the ECU..
currently i've installed the variable resistor 1k ohm, parallel with the ECT sensor..(also with on/off switch n fuse, to avoid starting problem due to cold start and other short circuit problem)..
so, once i vary the resistor, the temperature give the reading accordingly from the resistance's level. just monitor via OBD2 (Android-Torque application)..at the same time i've installed external water temperature meter (water hose from radiator inlet)..
when ECU detect the temp. at 105C(because the changing of total resistance ECT+variable resistor), the cooling will trigger on, and actually at the same the real reading from external water temperature is just 90C..
so it's work..! thanks a lot..
but there are some problem about that parallel connection..the cooling fan still on because the ECT's resistance may decrease at certain level after cooling fan is on, but it not happen to variable resistor..
so actually at certain level temperature, the "ECT's resistance" may no decrease and the ECU still read about 102C, so fan remain on.. because from may observation, the cooling fan will shut off about 99C..

My coolant temperature meter is always at the three o'clock position.
If anything is wrong with the ECT will it still sit at the three o'clock position?
I presume if this item is faulty that it will also cause an engine to use more petrol.
