It's a beaut Clark! I wonder about the transmission... I can only find the typical press release mumbo-jumbo. I am really keen to find out what the auto world thinks of it, that is, how it drives. The last time Volvo dabbled in performance look at what we got! I really hope that Volvo takes some risks and commits to the Polestar concept.

PS. I'll pass on the grocery sack holders.

They are starting to roll into the dealers here in CT. Most dealers have ordered premium AWD models, stickers are in the low-mid 40's. Finding a base FWD near the 36k price point might be a special order.
I have been waiting for this car to hit the US for a few years. MY '03 is about to turn 200k. Going to take a test drive this week.

matthew1 wrote:^ Yes. Power steering too is moving to electric in an effort to make cars more efficient, and it's causing a panic with the canyon carver set. They say the feel is lost with electric boosted steering. According to the Car & Driver forums regulars, BMW got it wrong the first two years, model year 2013 and 2014, but the 2015's are better.
There's another downside to electronic power steering, for me anyway. I had to jumpstart a car that had electric power steering and had been sitting for a while. The battery had drained due to the car's lack of use. Once started, the steering wheel violently turned lock to lock by itself. After a few minutes of it idling to charge, the steering was erratic at best. For about ten minutes, every time I tried to turn the wheel, it would JERK itself back the other way. Lasted about ten minutes until the alternator charged the battery back to where IT decided what was acceptable. It really annoyed me and I can see how it could really freak some people out. That aside, I do understand the logic of that type of power steering. Just make sure your battery is in good shape.

^ Whoa! That's dangerous. Can I ask what model/brand of car this was?

(We're rapidly approaching the day when a car will need a reboot, like a PC does sometimes. And cars may get viruses and be unusable or dangerous until a software fix.)

Not bashing the car or brand by any means. I was in a SEVERE car accident a few years ago and I can say that the Infiniti/Nissan car that I was driving had a HUGE hand in why I'm still around now. My wife drives a Nissan, and I feel completely safe about it. It does have a mechanical steering pump though.

Good to hear you survived an accident!

The safety game was over 10-15 years ago when the design/manufacture methods playing field became level. Before that, automakers generally had to pick one specialty. Volvo's was safety. So now a 2015 low-safety-rated car is as safe as a safe car from say the 1980s.

Of course this development was bad news for Volvo. But competition is good for us consumers. I have a foot in each camp, but I'd never wish a lowered safety capability on any car brand because I like Volvo brand.

My local dealer had one of the new V60 4 cylinder T5 models in stock when I got my oil changed a couple weeks ago. One of the sales guys told me it has an 8 speed automatic transmission. It's a nice looking car!

I saw one of these at the auto show a few weeks ago.

I LOVE the exterior of the car. It's just awesome. The center stack on the car just bugs the heck out of me. The seats, in typical Volvo fashion, are fantastic. However, reminescent of the older S60, there are just too many buttons - and what's with the phone keypad?
