2005 xc90 axle seal leaking

Was changing oil today and noticed that the skid plate was oilly looking on driver side. Upon further investigation, It looks like that the axle seal where the cv axle goes in is leaking. Been doing some reading about different seals on these trannies going bad. Is this one of the one i have to be worried about a deeper underlying problem? On a scale 1 to 10, how hard is this job in the driveway? I know the ball joints will be a little bit of a pain, but do i have to worry about anything when i pull the axle out of the tranny?
Also been hearing a fluttering noise at idle. Is this related?

Axle is not difficult to replace, but the procedure is demanding. It is doable in a driveway if you are careful.
