If you look at the motor end shown in that link you will see the rectangular PTC disc. I removed the disc and substituted a copper slug I hammered from a copper wire, a penny would also work cut to dimension.
The brushes were not worn much on my motors just as pictured in the link if you compare old to new

Thanks cn90, erikv11 for the additional info.
Q: Is there another source for the motor of the Volvo? I damaged the Honda DC Motor (photo) when I took it apart. Probably will damage the Volvo's also. The Honda ones has the physical shape but the shaft is short it seems.
That's with a bit of wiping already

Q (jimmy57): Sorry if I miss it while reading the Posts but what does PTC stand for besides its function? From the link it looks like you both rebuilt your motor (slug) besides replacing the bad Resistor with a wire?jimmy57 wrote:If you look at the motor end shown in that link you will see the rectangular PTC disc. I have a feeling you can't easily source the Volvo motor. Note that the spinlocks reseller I linked sells *rebuilt* motors, not new ones.
But I have not looked into it any further and it would be great if you can find a source, good luck!

Thanks, you are right there is a core charge even for the motors. If the brushes are shot like the Honda unit I am wondering how spinlock is rebuilding it. May just have to contact him and find out.
