Help!!! Chnage side position light bulb in the rear bumper

Hi,

One of my position lights in the rear bumper fails. I try to open up the red plastic panel so I can access to the bulb but it does not work. Does anyone know how to open up the panel so I can change the bulb?

Ummm, which car? I assume it's an '01 or newer as that message only lights up in those cars. If it's a wagon, it opens from inside the car...there is a panel that comes out...then you have to reach up in there. If it is too far up then I believe there is a plastic pillar panel that snaps out. Don't try to do it from outside of the car. If it's a sedan then there's still a felt panel in the trunk that comes out. These are much easier to reach than the wagon.

My car is 2000 S40. I did try to open up from the truck but it seems the whole piece is attached to the side wall and cannot reach the bulb.

Ah, gotcha...rear side marker lamps!
