Hi to all,
I have a Volvo S80 2.4 petrol 1999 with 84000 km, I have been hearing some clicking noises from the front of the car recently so I start looking for the problem I changed the outer tie rods, the control arm bushes, the sway bar links, the transmission torque mount, the upper engine torque mount.I checked the inner tie rods, shocks and springs, the spring seats, shock mounts, sway bar bushes and the wheel bearings they were all in good condition so i thought that now I have a clicking free Volvo, and send it on wheel alignment. The shop said that the suspension and steering parts in the front and rear of the car are in very good condition and they told me to look in other areas for excessive movement.I still hear the clicking noise from the driver side when I take corners and the car weight goes in the the front, otherwise the car has a very sharp steering no clicking noises when the car goes over bumps , goes in the straight line without going side`s. Now i don`t know where to look for noises can people with same experience advise me anything? I`m thinking for checking the engine mounts are they a common problem in S80?
Thank you very much.

Pop the wheel center cap ,there is a bolt size 14 mm? check it out if it loose ,it can make a clicking noise too, it happened to mine once every 1 or 2 years when I select the gear R orD,so tight it up. At84,000km it is hard to say the shaft gone bad, because mine still in the car for 14 years at 228,000+miles..

Thank you Kahl and Thai Ung for your reply, yesterday i checked the drive shaft it was in good condition no move in the shaft wile spinning also i took the car for a fast drive and the symptoms of a bad drive shaft when you drive fast is vibration but not on my Volvo, and for the drive shaft bolt it is a new one that i replaced and tightened it on 35Nm and 90 degrees after my control arm bushings job, also i checked the engine mount`s seems in good condition, I read that also the subframe can make that clicking noise that i feel under the driver side floor, does any body knows how to check them and is it a big job to replace them?

If you can hear this clicking noise while inside your car it is probably not anything exterior. My S80 is so sound proof when inside I cant hear my awful brakes squealing. I too had that click. It is your fan motor. Turn off your recirc air. See if that stops the click. My fan also caused a chirp when I would turn left. this was caused by the barrings going out. I just replaced the fan/motor and all systems are go!
