2006 C70 Side and Driver SEATairbag popped, locked seatbelts

Post by ozzman »

Hi Guys.. I'm trying to repair a 2006 C70 that took a side hit, damage is limited to only the driver door so she's in pretty good shape. I'm trying to get together a list of items I'll need to purchase and hoping i can get some help.

Obviously I'll need a new door (I've sourced a few).. however the driver side door and driver seat airbag have both deployed (none of the fronts or pass airbags).. All seatbelts are now locked as well. I'm thinking I get a seat airbag replace it and have the seat sowed back up. the door and panel come with a new airbag so I'm good there.

the seat belts I'm worried about, are these locked mechanically or via the computer? I don't understand why the rear seatbelts needed to lock also.

Also do i need a new SRS module? they aren't easy to find for the 2006 C70 so hoping not but I don't think I'm that lucky.

Thanks for all your help! I'll be sure to post before and after photos once I'm done.

Volvo has pyro seatbelt tensioners. They are one-shot units, ==$350.00 minimum. My dealer wanted $700 to replace it. The SRS system will have flagged the event, but I think it will respond to VIDA resetting.
