Yeah,
I know it is confusing. I have dealt with both NA (my 1998 V70) and my 1998 S70 GLT engines.
* At the engine area where the oil trap is located: the short hoses to block x2, the hose to the top, the oil trap, clamps are all the same for both NA and GLT engines. The webistes may say this and that but for practical purposes, they will fit.
* The difference is in vent hose-vacuum hose combo 9471644, i.e., where it terminates in NA vs GLT engines. However, if one does the 5/8-inch hose mod, then it is a moot point b/c one does not buy this piece of junk. Instead one would use the 5/8-inch hose and connect it to appropriate places on the NA engine.
junemann1, even if you need the "flame trap" assembly 1236143, you can always get this later at dealer for $7. Swapping this part later is a 10-min deal, so no big deal here.

You may want to click the links and check it out. The hoses from Volvo in fact are not all the same, they are physically different, you can see it in the pictures. It's not confusing, it's interesting.cn90 wrote: ...

As I said, I also think that for practical purposes, they will all fit. But since I haven't actually tested out all the combinations, I'm not going to make that blanket claim.

I know it is confusing on the web, but my experience shows that the parts are interchangeable between NA vs GLT engine:
- The engine block holes: spacing between them is the same.
- The engine top port: location is the same.
- The oil trap is the same size and shape.
- The short hoses and hose-to-the-top may have different PNs, but they all fit.
I think Volvo engineers got bored and played around with these thingies...

maybe you could just order every part you could conceivably need and return the ones you don't use once the job's done.
bit more cash outlay in the first place, but you get peace of mind before starting, and you get the money for the parts back after returning what you don't use.
and if you post back here listing what you did and did not need (or what did and did not fit), that's one more useful piece of information for MVS. maybe not a definitive guide, but one owner's experience of what he needed to get the job done.

My suspicion is Volvo engineers modify the PCV hose(s) let's say 2mm difference in the curve, so of course they will list this as not compatible with older model. But in reality, they fit b/c this is rubber hose, they can bend a bit here and there, considering that the engine holes design is the same and the oil trap is the same, only the hose(s) are different in a very very minor manner.
I am recapping the debate between minor differences for junemann1 to see in photo.
However, the best approach for junemann1 is to go to local Volvo dealer with his VIN number and pull up the part list at the dealer.

So I am in the middle of this project today, and everything is going relatively smoothly, but as I'm getting ready to put everything back together I'm wondering about that little vacuum hose that connects on the very left end of the manifold. Mine had melted about 6 inches down, where does this reconnect?

If you have a non-turbo, it reconnects at the flame trap housing. Just FYI, several posts about this hose today you could check out the other threads too.
If you have a turbo, it reconnects to the PTC, down at the bottom of the accordion fresh air hose.

How long did the job take? Whats your skill level? I'm looking at doing the job in the next month.

If I had subtracted time that I took breaks, id say I took me about 6 hours. My skill level is probably on the low side, but its getting better (hopefully).
Big thanks to everyone that helped me out in this thread, I can tell an improvement in my car, especially in my idle. Previously my car idled at about 950, id say its idling about 750 now. I'll do a glove test later and see how that turns out.
