2001+ V70 Cargo Dimesions (rear/3d seat down)?

Well, my only Volvo is gone. The 960 required my attention to keep on the road. With my daughter heading off to college, we switched to a 01 Avalon to eliminate tinkering or at least have something that requires a bit less specialized knowledge if I have to pay someone to wrench on it when she's away.

However, Volvo #2 is on the radar, for daughter #2. She plays the harp, so a V70 is desired for the carrying capacity. I'm probably targeting an 01-07, but if someone has a strong opinion favoring a previous gen version within the context of the following questions, "I'm all ears." A 960 or V90 wagon would be cool too, however they are getting pretty rare to find in decent shape and one of those would probably put me back to where I was with the 960 we sold ... lots of attention required. So for now, my focus is on a 01+ V70, unless something astounding from earlier years comes along.

I've never been inside a V70. Since cargo volume capacity is among the top considerations, can someone tell me: 1) when the rear seat is stowed, is the cargo area more or less a flat surface? 2) what is the length from closed hatch to the front seatbacks (I guess assuming a mid-range seat travel up front), and the minimum width between fenderwells? 3) does the lower hatch opening have a raised lip (above the floor surface); if so, how much?

I'm looking at loading a concert grand harp. I'm pretty sure it will fit on it's own, but I'm really wondering how it would fit when carried in either of two cases we may have for it.

Yep the 960 wagons sure were a long loader!! You could just about put on a suit and avoid renting a hearse if need be!!

I'll take some measurements for you tomorrow, though I can tell you the P2s are wider than a 960 and about as long to the seat backs. 960s are 8cm longer than P80s (850 and early V70) to the seatbacks (you really miss that 8cm when lugging large objects)

Floor is absolutely flat, from rear door to front seats. I don't remember a lip...

Just measured my '01 XC, short loading length is with seat cushion tilted up, 2nd is with seat cushion removed, I'm 1.87m & drivers seat is almost all the way back.
