It is the coil magnet from the dashboard mounted speaker.

Correct.

When you pull the speaker it will look like this:

I didn't even try to fix mine, I just replaced them with some 3 1/2" Infinity speakers. (better glue!)

Here is how they came out:

wow, with that much space under the tweeter dash location, i'd quickly install a mid to high end component set with at least 1.25" tweets like on the dyns and the midrange replacing the door speakers... but that is just me!

Funny. Last weekend I did a little exploring and found out why the two rear deck speakers had stopped working on my '94 850 sedan. The magnets from the tweeters, which are suspended above the woofers, had fallen out on both speakers and had plopped onto the cones of the woofers. Another case of bio-degradable adhesives. The tweeter magnets had become magnetically affixed to the woofer magnets, and unfortunately, on freeing them, I noticed that they had crushed the fragile paper woofer cones. As a result, though I glued the magnets back in place, the sound quality was somewhat less than acceptable.

I am now looking for replacement speakers - 8 ohm and an odd shape, something like 8 x 4? Any suggestions?
