found out what it was!!! the MAF connector was broken and wasn't making a full connection.

The specifications do list Type F atf for manual trans in US but the spec in Europe was for a synthetic oil that is thicker. When I worked at a dealer when that was a new car we put 10w30 engine oil in them to stop neutral clutch released gear rattle. Synthetic 5w20 or 5w30 would be a great choice now. The OD will work much better with the motor oil in it. I don't know where you are but thinner if you are cooler area and thicker for the hotter states.
