04 Xc 90 common issues?
04 Xc 90 common issues?
Hi! Considering purchasing a 04 xc90 awd with a t5 automatic. It has 75k and he wants 8 for it. Upon inspection I couldnt find a solid issue with the car (needs tires and a battery, the usual) I also know that volvo had issues in the past with their awd system (as do all car manufacturers). My question is, is it a good deal? Are there common problems I should look at before buying? Thanks for the help

Even early XC90s (2003) started with Haldex so no real issues with any of them except that as with all fuid carrying transaxles they last a lot longer when fluid is replaced every 5 years or so.
Watch for fluid replacements on transmission and regular oil changes.
When buying a used car service records are more important than testimonial from owners, especially the "never had a problem with her" variety we run into.
The inline 5s are pretty reliable and not too dissimilar from 850s with a bucketload of improvements and extra power. However XC90s weigh as much (if not slightly more) as a female rhinoceros so expect a large fuel bill when compared to P80s.
