Hi, I have recently changed my mass airflow sensor and now my outside temperature display is displaying the wrong temperature. It goes from 54°F to 42°F when driving , actual temperature outside is 25°F. Did changing the MAF have anything to do with this or is this a Nother problem.
2002 V70 .... It is now warming up outside The display is reading 90°F and it is only 45° actual temperature. Will this affect the way the car runs does the computer not rely on this temperature to make fuel/ air calculations?

Outside air temp is calculated by the driver's door module (DDM) via a sensor built into the door mirror.
Intake air temp is another matter and is calculated at the MAF of course.

In these cars (atmo engine) there is 3 sensors.
in both mirrors and in MAF.
Right mirror sensor is used to display temp at the dash.
Left mirror sensor is used by engine as outside temp (it it is broken reading is replaced by MAF reading).
MAF sensor is used as intake temp.
Look for errors in VIDA and you will see what is wrong.
VIDA also contains information about components characteristics so at least temp sensors can be checked by resistance meter.

If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer
Unfortunately my laptop does not meet one of the requirements for the VIDA. The software does not support Windows 7 home edition. So I will not know if things are working properly until I either borrow a laptop or buy a new one.

If you edit the registry into thinking it's Win 7 Pro the Vida sw will install. Google it for instructions.

After it installs I'm pretty sure it's OK to place the registry back to where it was.
