Over the years I've gathered a variety of tools to work on my car. Also, I have been slowly commandeering my dad's tools as well.
I just wanted to find out what you guys consider essential and non-essential tools for the Volvo owner.
For example, which sockets/wrenches are crucial? Can I get by on just metric? Are air tools necessary? Power tools? What do you keep in your in-car toolkit?
What is a decent set of tools to own?
I have a torx (24?) That literally removes all the screws in my car. I also bought a star head socket set for 15 bucks:) youll be oryetty set with that for general maintenance

A decent set of Torx bits that can fit 1/4" drive for the small ones (T20 is the common one on Volvo interior and engine top covers) and 3/8" drive for the larger ones, set of metric spanners, I use ratchet ring/ open end for most jobs and a good metric socket set. After that just purchase the other items you need on a job by job basis, when you can carry out most jobs without having to purchase a tool you have a complete tool set - Mike
