Best place to buy oil and filters these days?

Post by Durenol »

Where do people buy oil and filters these days? Amazon and Walmart have such a problem with counterfeit/knockoff products that I don't really trust buying anything from them anymore.

FCP Euro or IPD for filters, Costco for cases of Mobil 1 synthetic oil (5W30), when on sale. Walmart also has decent sales of 5 quart Mobil 1 containers.

Believe it or not…. I’ve been buying my oil at Lowes. Castrol Edge high mileage 5qts full syn. $27.98, GTX high mileage blend $20.98. I get my filters in bulk from FCP.

All consumables from FCP and consolidate for warranty / refunds / returns. Basically paying return shipping after first or second purchase if didn't time purchases effectively.

In the midwest Menards has the best deal on oil, followed by Meijer. I use Quaker State Ultimate Durability synthetic in my P2 S60. Autozone carries the STP extended life oil filter (synthetic resin media, included o-ring is silicone) for $5-8 less than other comparable premium filters from anywhere else, except possibly online.

In the midwest watch Fleet Farm (or other farm stores) for sales on your preferred product, paired with rebates it is usually cheaper than at Menard's.

Current ad (4/30/21 - 05/08/21) has Rotella T6 5W-40 full synthetic; coupled with Shell's rebate your final cost for one gallon is $16, $9.20 or $8 depending on if you buy the 1 gallon, 2.5 gallon or 5 gallon size, respectively. 8 bucks a gallon is a great price and I'm already using this oil in all the cars I service.

I buy all my oil from the Walmart online store. Reasonable prices and fast shipping. Filters from FCP in bulk.
