I have a broken seatbelt black from a 99 c70 and a working seatbelt beige from my c70 2000 Can I swap the belt or is this just a pain and too dangerous with the tensioner charge attached. they look the same. Looks like I might be able to peek inside the non tensioner side.
Anyone done it?
Can I use the belts from a 99 V70 there is one where I got the dash from?
What do you think?

'99 and '00 are the same on the C70s. The V70 is different.
They really aren't that hard to change after you pry off the trim. Make sure to disconnect the battery before you try to swap them or it will set a SRS error. The battery should be disconnected before the old one comes out and reconnected after the new one is plugged in. Hopefully you have your radio code.

If you can pull that off then please post the details. On my 850s at least that looked pretty impossible.mikel wrote:I want to swap the black belt onto the working beige belted reel...

I'm done... that was really easy.
I'll post images later. Took apart bad seatbelt reel first. I put it in my bench vise and have it sitting level and straight. Staying on the left side where the silver ball bearing was and I got it to release the black belt. Then pried out the end of the belt and they just have it expanded in a loop thru the center of the metal reel. You use a scratch awl to pull it out and then force the plastic rod out of the center of the loop. Squeeze the belt with pliers to make it flat so it will pull out of the reel easily.
Then take new seatbelt and repeat but since it works you don't need to take the cover off. Then use a quick clamp (woodworking clamp) to keep the reel from unreeling. Take the belt off then put the new one on. Add the plastic rod, remove clamp and it rolls up.
