Thanks!
oops - i missed where you said you already put in OEM plugs. That's a great start.

If you do go to the next stage of parts, wires must be Bougicord and cap/rotor must be Bosch. Coil is very rare to go bad on these cars.
I already ordered the cables (Bougicord), and I have a set of cap/rotor left behing by the previous owner. I'll rebuild the fuel relay.

I'm hoping this is it.

This is not it. The car gave me the following codes:
P1310, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0301, P0305, P0300, P0422

I expected the P0422 because the CAT literally spat its guts out.

Today I replaced the wires, cap and rotor with used ones. The wires had 2k, the cap and rotor looked good, they were left by PO in the spare tire compartment.

Jose--
Just a quick follow up to ask if replacing the distributor cap and rotor and ignition wires solved the multiple misfire problem you were having...
I ask because yesterday after a hot restart my wife noticed the car misfiring and nearly stalling. I pulled the same codes you got: P0300 (multiple misfires), P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304 and P0305.
It's been about 60K miles since I replaced the cap and rotor so it might be time to go in there again.
1997 855 GLT (Light Pressure Turbo) still going strong. Previous: 1986 240 GL rusted out in '06, 1985 Saab 900T rusted out in '95, 1975 Saab 99 rusted out in '95, 1973 Saab 99 rusted out in '94

Jose- I had those issues/codes when my cheapo aftermarket MAF sensor was in the process of crapping out a couple years ago. Began with fluctuating RPMs at idle and P030X codes. Then tripped P0172, P0422, P1310 and black gunk started spitting out in the exhaust. Disconnecting it can apparently help diagnose it (didn't work for me) and cleaning it didn't help at all, but it might be worth trying those things because it's cheap and easy.
