VIDA 2012A on Windows 8?

Post by deepsouth »

Hey all--
I may have missed a thread on this but I have a copy of VIDA Edition 2012A that I'm trying to use. Is there any way possible to run this on Windows 8? Anyone out there had success?
Many thanks in advance!

You need Microsoft Net Framework version 4.0 (no higher) and IE browser no higher than 9. Also Win 8 must be Proffessional

Failing this just use the VMWare XP image here on the forum. I have it running fine on VM Ware on my own Win 8 laptop.

Okay, so if install VMWare do I still need to have a hard copy of Windows XP Professional (to install on the virtual machine) to run my disc? Thanks!

The first post in the link I provided gives you all you need. Just go back to the first post; the thread is 4 pages long now.

You need the image files (10GB) and the VM WARE player plus 7 zip to extract the image files to one directory.

This is the VM Player link: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#d ... player/6_0

This is the 7 Zip weblink:

I've run this process on a Windows 7 laptop. You need a lot of storage and a fast chip for it to be fairly usable. Does the hardware interface work with this? DICE? I used it standalone for part numbers and repair info. Pretty decent but resource intense.

It helps if you remember the key word in "emulator" is LATER. That said, the VMWare image is a turnkey solution. DiCE does work, but I established a USB connection to the DiCE on the host first and did the firmware flash from there before moving info the XP image.
