Hello all, I have had a serious of electrical problems and I am looking to possibly rememdy before bringing to my indy and letting him find something that, in his words, can take 10 minutes or 2 days.
Here are my issues in the order I encountered and any action I took. I must preface that I am not electrically savvy, but I am hoping of tracing the issue back to a faulty fuse or something I can 'see'
1. Rear passenger door lock actuator does not work with fob or driver control - I suppose I bought the car like this a few years back, not sure.
2. Fuel door lock switch would lock but not unlock - I removed module and tried to grease, check teeth, grabbed one from the junk yard, same result - motor locks with fob, would not unlock.
3. Rear wiper failed - at this point I thought these might be related along the back wiring harnesses so I tried looking around the tailgate arm area for pinched wires etc. nothing
These issues are minor in the grand scheme of the operating car, more a nuisance, but then:
4. My wife told me a few weeks back the car turned off while driving (WHAT?!?!) just shut off. it has happened to me once since the below oil change.
5. I moved the car to change the oil and went to start it up again to put on ramps and it had a dead battery after sitting for about 5 minutes. So I jumped it and it has not done that since.
6. I re-set the clock, and within 24 hours, it is 2 hours behind.
So I have checked the battery connections in the trunk and then where they come into the engine compartment, look ok. I started the car and put the multi-meter on the battery and it fluctuated between 14.23 and 14.83.
Sorry for the long post, I want to see if I can trouble shoot this before dropping it off for a possible $/hr nitemare diagnosis. How do I find out what is stealing load or shorting the rear area. Thank you
