My comment was actually a slam. LMS is very real, I've had it happen to me on three occasions on three different 5 cylinder whiteblock Volvos.

While I have yet get an explanation of exactly what occurs that totally satisfies my Engineering background I have learned to simply accept it for what it is and recover from it with the tried and true methods.

I did'nt believe in Bigfoot until I saw him. On Monday I pulled out the 94 850 N/A out of the garage to do the trailing arm links. when completed with this fun filled task I went to start car. No start, high cranking RPM's. Put a capful of oil in each cylinder and she popped right off. this car has over 225 miles and never had this happen before. Still wondering why.

When it happened to me I noticed my lawn was mowed too. That made me a believer that the grass was indeed greener...and shorter.

Remove cap & rotor and inspect them for wear and tear.
Can I ask where you are going with this?
Mine is doing the rpm up & down thing on cold starts. Intermittent of course.

Oh gosh, not another AMM. Done that a few times already (but I think I had defective parts).

I seem to be narrowing down my problem to cold starts that are below 45 degrees F. Not positive yet, but it's leaning that way.

I hope that you used OEM Bosch Maf sensors...new or used,it doesn't matter as long as they are good and Oem.
Aftermarket sensors will not work on these cars...properly.
