Hi guys,
I have a 1998 S70, so familiar with issues of 850, S/V70.
Quick question, for XC90 FWD models, any issues with the Auto Trans?
2005 XC90 2.5L FWD, any trans issues?
I think the T6 was the one with all the Trans issues.
Mine went out at 75,000 mi. Really poor design. You would think for a car Volvo was going to build for 11 years they could have designed a trans to fit, instead of using a GM trans.

Another question: If I cannot find a FWD and have to convert AWD to FWD:
- Which year can I do this conversion?
- Just removing driveshaft and that is it?

The T6 transmissions are the ones that you need to stay away from. The 2.5t are generally trouble free as long as they are not abused or neglected.
If you find a AWD xc90, I would not convert it FWD if the AWD is working. There is no point to this since the xc90 already gets good gas mileage with AWD. Also, I have heard that without the AWD, the xc90 can have trouble getting up some inclines in snowy weather because of its weight.
I would remove the AWD as a last resort if or when it fails. Even fixing it is not that costly as long as you can source the parts the right place.
