Hi -
I was totally on track in replacing drivers side door stop....panel off, old door stop out, new one greased up. However, I found it impossible to get the new stop thru the hole in the door - I rotated and twisted but the bolts on the door stop were not getting past the sheet metal of the door.
So I started messing with the door stop and popped the flat piece out from the wheel rollers - now it appears I can't get it back because of the force needed. One of the ends of the "carabiner" looking piece is out of its proper slot.
How can I force the parts back together? Is it easier to just order a new stop?
Thanks, Andrew

The door stop has two states, extended and collapsed.
The door stop would insert only when collapsed, and then extend the arm out to reach the pillar.
It takes some finesse. Post a photo.

Thanks for your reply - took me a while to get the door stop back together but I did and just inserted into door - it went in fine but now there is very little resistance - it will stop but barely - a wind or just the momentum from swinging will move it through the "detents"
What did I do wrong? Too much grease? Did I bend something trying to get the pieces together in a vice?
I got genuine volvo from FCP Euro.
Thanks,
Andrew

I replaced it with Volvo parts $41 each on both front door, not a same part number.
I often park on a slop, and now open the door fearlessly.
It opens for 30º first, then stops. Once pushed passed the stopper, it would to open wide.
Left and right door stops are two different part numbers.
