1994 Volvo 850 Blower Motor Doesn't Activate

I'm guessing this for the a/c compressor, right or wrong ?
Photo2
What does REC mean for 850's?
Photo 3
No activation of blower motor when slider is moved left to right. I'm guessing blower motor bad, ecc switch bad or blower resistor

AC button is for the compressor. If the light is illuminated, AC is OFF.

REC is short for Recirculate or Recycle, either way it circulates the air inside the cabin as opposed to bringing in new air from outside. This is helpful when driving through smoggy areas, offensive odors outside, and will also help the AC keep the air cold.

The resistor is the usual culprit.

Mine stopped working in January. My local Volvo mechanic said its almost always the motor. Bought the replacement from FCP, installed in about an hour. Works fine now.

Did the motor make any noise before you lost use of it? I've had 2 fans go out on me and both were very noisy before they finally conked out. There are 2 breakers to the left of the fan. The one on the left controls the fan and I believe the other one controls the compressor.

Changed motor only from fcpeuro.com. Still nothing. Motor only was $68. There is power to the motor harness, but ntn. I do see that the previous owner purchased a junk yard resistor due to the yellow writing on it. HELP

1. Pull the codes from port B-1 and post them back. If there are a bunch of them, clear the codes, try operating the climate unit in all of its phases (heat, cool, defrost, auto fan and manual fan) and them read them again.

2. Short the large black and blue wires together that come out of the power stage (blower resistor). If the fan runs at full speed then the blower is fine and chances are it is a bad power stage.

Post back the results of both tests.
