Just installed my ebay heater core on my volvo 850. Now i know some of you are like why would i purchase an ebay heater core. Well let me tell you why, first it's only $38.95, second lifetime warranty, third corrected design to eliminate leak. Thank you IPD for the diy video. DIY caution, use hose cut off clamps to stop the flow of coolant into the heater core. Have a lot of rags under the heater core when you disconnect the hard pipes from the core. Simple install

They are great but hopefully you washed it first. They ship with an oil film that stinks when it gets hot.

This heater core has been discussed at length on this and other forums, it is widely agreed upon to be a good buy. Nice find!

I purchased mine from them although mine was a black unit. Removed twice cleaning due to the smell. Used Alcohol, hot water and Palmolive to decrease, simple green and brake cleaner. It still smells a little after using it last winter. Hope this newer model smells less.

Anyone has a suggestion for a better degreaser as I was afraid to try Carb Cleaner or Acetone. The Brake Cleaner seemed less harsh.

Given my original lasted 15 years, I don't quite buy the "design flaw pitch". Especially since they have been around for 3!

It's a great price and TTBOMK these are holding up well here.

Maybe soak them overnight in sudsy water? I would reluctant to use acetone as that aggressively attacks plastic. Maybe one could figure out how to sluice the metal with acetone without touching the plastic.

Acetone is miscible in water, so removal is easy.

All car parts can visit the dishwasher as long as the wife is out. I've done brakes, valve covers, transmission pans and only got threatened with divorce a few times, clunked on the head twice

My 98 had the OE with around 245K also. I did soak mine over night and even boiled the water for pouring. The dishwasher is ++1.
