the timing light jumps all over when it accelerates. nothing subtile like low power. with gas, the timing light flashes 20 deg+ off and farther so it misses that cycle, when it slows down it fires again in half second spurts, the more gas the louder and longer between spurts. I was told it might be the knock sensor but I believe they retard it by only 6 deg. I've been messing with this for 6 months. So far I found 9 fatal problems w/ the car and I don't see how the second and succeeding ones could have developed because the 1st should have taken it off the road. It's running now but is still un-drivable. I'm open to suggestions.

ok, to allay everyone's avid concern: its not the knock sensor or the wire to the ignition controller. it has to be something to do with the ignition controller (from ebay). does anyone know of a diagnostic procedure for them (# 1346107)? The easiest way is to just replace it with a known good one, but I live a pretty small rural community where parts cars are jealously conserved by large squinty eyed people with shotguns.
