1998 S70 Diver Side Window Replacement

Post by lamplighter55 »

Does anyone have instructions on how to replace the driver-side front window of a 1998 S70? Mine was smashed by pranksters last night along with six other cars in my neighborhood. Ordered the replacement window; but couldn't find any specific step-by-step instructions. I have replaced window control switch and driver side mirror on this car before; so removing the door panel is not a problem for me. Thanks in advance.

I happened to replace the following items last year:
- Window Rollers x 2: PN 9152606 ($4/each at dealer).
- Window Guide Rail: Left side is 9187464 ($22 at dealer).

You may consider replacing those items while there!
For the glass, you can get a glass at local junk yard for cheap...

Anyway, DIY is below:

Thank you for the very helpful info. Here are some additional tips:-
1) Be sure to vacuum and clean out all the broken glass pieces from the side & top tracks around the window frame.
2) To access the 2 retainers that are holding the bottom portion of the broken glass, you will need to remove the door panel, then the door release (on right) and a plastic cover (on left)

. Somehow you'll need to re-attach the window control module and lower the mechanical window arm to the level where you can see the retainers.

3) In order to insert the replacement glass from the top, you'll need to remove the top inner trim
