1999 S70 AWD charcoal canister location

Post by TrstnBrtt »

Anyone know where it is? I tried looking under the car and can't seem to find it... I have a P0445 code and when I'm filling it with fuel it clicks off quite frequently (only at Shell stations. Seems fine at any other ones in Calgary)
If I paid attention to signs with little symbols I’d never find anywhere to park.

Check under the front of the car, drivers side. Square box. My 98 AWD V70 has it there so I'm not 100% sure for a 99.

In 1999 it moved back to the right rear wheel just in front of the rollover, shutoff valve, and fuel filter.

Its a pain to work back there.

Damn, everything back there is pretty well covered in plastic and such. Of course the CEL would come on right before an inspection -_-

That's where it is on a FWD...don't know if it's still in the front bumper location in the later AWD models or not.

Yeah I watched that, couldn't find it on mine. Thank you for the input. I'll save this for the weekend

It depends on the emissions code but on my '99XC it is similar to the video but it is above the rear part of the gas tank.

You were right, ozark. Hoses look good. I replaced the purge valve and the gas cap though. Knock on wood

I just did this on my 99 v70xc and although that J hose looked good from underneath, it has several cracks on the top side which I was only able to see through the access panel. I assume the s70 AWD is as much a pita to access the canister as the wagon due to the AWD components. I don't know if the sedan has an access panel or not but don't discount that hose yet.
