850 GLT not starting

Post by Dub1 »

Hi all I'm new to this board and I was wondering if anyone could help me out...I'm actually trying to help a friend with his volvo 850 GLT. He's having problems with it starting and sometimes when he's driving it just dies. The car has fuel, the fuel pump apparently has recently been changed, and the car turns over after it dies but it's just not getting past that. I dont' know anything about these cars but if anyone could lend a hand with any knowledge of such a problem it would be greatly appreciated. He's brought it to his mechanic several times but obviously to no avail. Thanks again.

It sounds as though you have a clogged fuel filter, usually a quick and simple change
Thanks for the advice

As a matter of fact it wasn't any of the obvious things. It was the oxygen sensor!

Given the number of posts on various boards that end in the phrase: "...it wasn't any of the obvious things. It was the oxygen sensor!" if/when my S70 behaves erratically, snorts, farts, or groans, I will replace the sensor first then begin the usual troubleshooting (check for gas in tank, etc). Maybe I'll buy a 6-pack to have on hand.
