I tried taking the prop shaft off to drive it around without it so I could see if it's the problem. I got all of the bolts off the front and back joints as well as the center bearing support. I could not get the front or rear joints to separate from the car. Liquid wrench and a hammer. They wouldn't budge. Is there a trick to separating them?

I got the prop shaft off. I took it to a local Volvo shop and they pulled it for $80. Both the front and rear joints are worn and difficult to rotate/pivot. I'm getting a rebuilt prop shaft from Colorado Driveshaft.

There's still a vibration under moderate acceleration. It's improved, but still there. Other motor mounts? The transmission mount/link looked ok. Angle gear? Timing belt? I'm at 127,000 miles and I ordered a timing belt kit.

I don't know if I'm finding and fixing the problems or merely chasing symptoms.

Without the prop shaft, there's a whine when the car is coasting (foot off the gas). Is that expected? I would think - No.

Check support bearing on right axle. Remove carriage bracket, pull axle down a bit, try to rotate bearing with your fingers. Bearing on my V70 was dry - grease has been washed away by time and spilled engine oil. Had it replaced ~1.5 years ago - no whine anymore. Fairly easy to replace if you have a press in garage.

I changed out the right cv axle and the bearing was part of that assembly. That's the one you're referring to, right?

Yes. Was that whine all the time, or started to happen after some work done?

The whine started after a pulled the prop-shaft. The whine occurs when you let off the gas - instantly.
